Maersk Leases 100% of New Panattoni Logistics Park in Herleshausen
The global logistics provider is taking over the newly developed facility in northern Hessen, adding a significant hub to its German contract logistics network and creating nearly 1,000 jobs.

Maersk has signed a lease agreement for the entire "Panattoni Park Bad Hersfeld Ost" facility in Herleshausen, located in northern Hessen. The park is a modern logistics distribution center with a total area of approximately 71,800 square meters, including 62,800 square meters of warehouse space, 2,900 square meters of office space, and 6,100 square meters of mezzanine space. The new operation is expected to result in the creation of approximately 1,000 new jobs, with the scheduled completion date of the handover set for August 2026.
As part of a strategic expansion, the move significantly extends Maersk's contract logistics presence in Germany, creating a central hub to serve both domestic and European markets. Northern Hessen, centrally located within Germany, offers a well-suited location for this purpose. With direct access to the A4 motorway, shipments can reach nearly all major German markets, as well as neighboring European countries, within a few hours by truck.
Panattoni, a European leader in the development of industrial, logistics, and commercial properties, has noted a significant demand for cutting-edge, sustainable logistics facilities. These facilities offer the advanced technology logistics providers require to achieve their operational objectives.
The site's green building concept integrates photovoltaic systems, rainwater collection, and EV charging infrastructure. The facility was constructed with the intention of achieving DGNB Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).
