"Fast internet should be as accessible in every village as power and running water", says Dr. Michael Koch, District Administrator for the Hersfeld-Rotenburg District, in the new 16_17 Annual Report (only available in German) from HA Hessen Agentur GmbH (HA) and its subsidiaries. Hessen's Minister of Economics Tarek Al-Wazir presented the annual report to the Hessen State Parliament. "The state government is creating the necessary conditions to help Hessen's strengths continue to develop. We will use active location marketing as well as promoting innovations and modern technologies, and we are grateful for the expertise of Hessen Agentur and Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH in these areas.

"Online first!"

Because of the quickly growing significance and rapidly changing world of online marketing, various specialized departments at HA and HTAI have now hired Online-Managers", explains Folke Mühlhölzer, the CEO of HA, and adds: "For us, it is an increasingly important motto: Online first!" At events like the recent broadband summit that HTAI organized for the Ministry of Economics, as well as in the 16_17 Annual Report (only available in German), experts are talking about fast internet as a location factor for companies and a basis for telemedicine in rural areas. Ute Schulte from GrimmHeimat Nordhessen says in the annual report that the HA campaign 'Natur.Land.Hessen' (Natural.State.Hessen) "strengthens the infrastructure in rural areas and maintains the economic power of village structures." After all, "the districts in North Hessen are setting standards by building Europe’s largest municipally operated broadband network", explains Schulte.

A State With a Future

In the 16_17 Annual Report (only available in German), Minister President of Hessen Volker Bouffier notes, "In order to make sure rural regions remain strong and attractive in the future as well, we have made it our goal to provide ongoing and increased support for rural regions through our campaign 'A State With a Future – Homeland Hessen'." HA is helping the state chancellery advertise the campaign. "Campaigns, concepts and communications are at the heart of our work. HA and HTAI are refining the state’s profile in order to shape Hessen's future as a hub for national and international competition," says Folke Mühlhölzer.

Hessen as a top location

"Hessen is a top location for international companies. One hundred seventy-three new companies were established in Hessen in 2017. Over the last few years, we have constantly set new records. Since HTAI's founding, 755 foreign companies have invested in Hessen", adds Dr. Rainer Waldschmidt, CEO of Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH. "We are courting foreign investors and bringing Hessen's companies to international markets." HTAI organizes trade-fair booths, delegations and events. "HTAI is a very important partner for our local economy", summarizes Hessen's Minister of Finance Dr. Thomas Schäfer in the 16_17 Annual Report (only available in German).

A steady course

"We are proud of our employees' work, and we are showcasing our services, solutions and offers of support. HA and HTAI will be able to have an impact well into the next generation", say Mühlhölzer and Waldschmidt, whose CEO contracts were extended in December 2017 for an additional five years. "I am looking forward to continuing our successful partnership. Hessen Agentur has charted a clear course, and the annual report provides insight into its wide range of activities", concludes Minister of Economics Tarek Al-Wazir.
