Dear Readers,

The global economy has faced a number of challenges this year, which have also impacted the German economy. But not all the news is negative. Recent developments in the state of Hessen show confidence in future growth and further solidify our region’s pivotal role in international business in Germany. Here’s an overview of those stories and more:

- Smurfit Kappa Group demonstrates a long-term commitment to its paper mill in Wrexen, investing millions in a new power plant to increase efficiency and prepare for a transition to hydrogen.

- LG Chem announced the opening of its first European Customer Solutions Center in Frankfurt to expand the company’s presence in Europe.

- Merck opened a new GMP-grade MRNA manufacturing site in Darmstadt as part of a billion-dollar investment to build its global mRNA network and capabilities.

Furthermore, we are pleased to announce a cooperation agreement between the French-German Chamber of Commerce (CCFA) in Germany and Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH to further strengthen our state’s position as an attractive location for French businesses.

We also have two additional success stories to share:

At its base in Kassel, Northern Hessen, Norwegian firm Hexagon Purus has developed and manufactured hydrogen high-pressure systems buses and trains for over 20 years. The company recently invested in a major expansion to meet rising worldwide demand for its zero-emission solutions.

Also, we recently visited biovis Diagnostik MVZ GmbH, part of the Australian Sonic Healthcare Group and a company that is making the most of Hessen’s many advantages. Building on solid growth, biovis has invested in a state-of-the-art headquarters complex in Limburg with excellent links to regional world class life sciences research and development and in the areas of innovative diagnostics and to the Frankfurt area.

You will find links to these stories and more below. If you have any questions or are seeking success in Europe and beyond, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’d be happy to assist in whatever way we can.
