Dear Readers,

As the first quarter of 2023 comes to a close, I’d like to share a number of exciting developments here in Hessen. More major players are making long-term investments, recognizing the advantages of our location in the heart of Germany and Europe.

For example, Stellantis has joined forces with Vulcan Energy Resources for a multiphase project to decarbonize and localize its energy supply in Rüsselsheim. DATA4 is investing over EUR 1 billion in a new data center in Hanau that will run on 100% green energy. BioNTech

has completed a key new manufacturing facility – part of a EUR 40 million development plan in Marburg that even earned a visit from German Chancellor Olaf Scholz

in February. And UPS Healthcare has opened its first dedicated logistics facility in Gießen to better serve the fast-growing European healthcare markets.

Learn more about these investments below, and don’t miss our story about Finnish company Outokumpu. The world’s most sustainable stainless steel producer operates a plant in Dillenburg, Central Hessen, that is also home to the company’s 19,000 honeybees.

Finally, I had the pleasure of handing an International Founders Award to a talented expat team from Darmstadt earlier this month. Congratulations again to reLi Energy GmbH.

I hope you find these updates useful. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or are interested in making Hessen your home for successful and sustainable business.
