Dear Readers,

The current energy crisis is causing uncertainty among companies and private households. Nevertheless, the situation also opens up a unique window of opportunities for the development and implementation of innovative technologies. In this issue of our newsletter, I will take you to the activities of the last few weeks and highlight some examples how Hessian companies contribute their part to make our economy more sustainable and resilient.

For instance, Chancellor Scholz came to our region in August to learn more about innovative ways for an alternative energy production. In this regard he visited Industriepark Höchst and Viessmann in Allendorf (Eder). Another example of Hessen´s strength in the application of renewable energies is the success story of Essity in Wiesbaden that proofs even energy-intensive industries can run sustainably using green hydrogen and a step-by-step approach to completely replace fossil-based natural gas.

In September, we finally had the chance to meet and exchange with our international business communities again. On 1 September, the Hessen-Japan Business Reception was held in Schloss Wilhelmsbad in Hanau. The following week, the Hessen-Korea Business Reception took place at the Saalburg Roman fort. Both events were attended by the Hessian Minister of Economic Affairs, business leaders, and numerous other attendees from the public and private sectors.

We further want to highlight new developments in Hessen´s industry. CSL was opening their new R&D campus in Marburg just recently. The facility is the largest R&D center of the Australia-based LifeScience multinational globally.

Moreover, we would like to give you a brief overview about a recent study carried out by Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft (IW) on the perspectives of the Hessian Automotive sector. The survey clearly underlines the excellent environment Hessen offers for this industry in transition.

Last but not least, we are celebrating an anniversary: InfraServ Wiesbaden, which is running the Kalle-Albert Industrial Park in Wiesbaden- one of the most important locations for the Chemical Industry in Hessen, is celebrating 25 years of successful operations.

I wish you interesting reading.
