Dear Readers,

Even in challenging times there is a lot of good news to report from Hessen.

In May, the new Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Frankfurt, Kyungsok Koh, and Consul Jae Jeong Lim visited HTAI in Wiesbaden. At this inaugural visit, we discussed the economic relations between the Republic of Korea and potential cooperation projects for future. The Korean business community in Hessen is the largest in Germany and the companies and people are not just contributing to our economic strength and prosperity, they are also enriching our cultural landscape. Just recently, the KPOP.flex, Europe's first K-pop mega festival, took place in Frankfurt attracting an audience from far beyond the Hessian borders.

Moreover, in this edition of our newsletter we would like to highlight exciting new developments such as the establishment of an AI innovation laboratory at the Hessen Center for Artificial Intelligence in Darmstadt, and new investments in the existing Volkswagen site in Baunatal which will position Hessen as a leading hub for the implementation of the Group´s EV strategy. We are welcoming newcomers such as Sweden-based MedTech multinational Getinge which recently inaugurated an Experience Center in Frankfurt as well as the US-based data center operator Cloud HQ planning their German headquarters in Offenbach. In Eastern Hessen, the town of Burghaun has been selected as the location for one of the largest plants for the production of bio-liquefied natural gas worldwide and will thus become an essential part of the decarbonization of heavy-duty traffic in Germany.

Additionally, we present you the success story of Eli Lilly, an US company which opened their German headquarter in Hessen already in 1960.

Last but not least, I would like to recommend our newly published brochure “HESSEN & FRANKFURT: Your business location in healthcare“.

I wish you interesting reading.
